Philanthropic Council

Paul Schervish is Professor Emeritus of Sociology and former Director of the Center on Wealth and Philanthropy (CWP) at Boston College. Professor Schervish was previously a Distinguished Visiting Professor at the Indiana University Center on Philanthropy. He has published in the areas of philanthropy, the sociology of money, the sociology of wealth, labor markets, unemployment, the biographical narrative, and the sociology of religion.

Over the past twenty-five years, CWP received generous support from the T.B. Murphy Foundation Charitable Trust, the W. K. Kellogg Foundation, the Lilly Endowment Inc., the John Templeton Foundation, the Impact Foundation, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Boston Foundation, and the Wieler Family Foundation.

Professor Schervish helped found the Wealth & Giving Forum, a peer-centered endeavor to deepen the philanthropic engagement of the nation’s 7000 wealthiest families. Current activities include developing and training fundraising and financial professionals in the use of a discernment methodology based on Ignatian principles for guiding wealth holders through a self-reflective process of decision-making about their finances and philanthropy. He has been selected five times to the NonProfit Times annual “Power and Influence Top 50.”

Professor Schervish received a B.A. in classical and comparative literature from the University of Detroit, a Masters in Sociology from Northwestern University, a Masters of Divinity Degree from the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley, and a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Professor Schervish was also a Fulbright Scholar at University College Cork and a Visiting Scholar at Harvard University.

Professor Schervish has directed many leading studies on wealth transfer, giving strategies and socially responsible investing. His most recent book is Wealth and the Will of God: Discerning the Use of Riches in the Service of Ultimate Purpose (Indiana University Press, 2010). He is completing work on Aristotle’s Legacy: The Moral Biography of Wealth and the New Physics of Philanthropy.


Kirby Rosplock, PhD is a recognized researcher, innovator, advisor, author, and speaker in the family business and family office realms. For the last decade, Dr. Rosplock was director of research & development at GenSpring Family Offices, based in Jupiter, Florida, one of the most prominent multi-family offices in the U.S. As the founder of Tamarind Partners, Inc., a research, advisory and consultancy practice that works with families, advisors and institutions connected to the family office market, Rosplock provides leading edge insights and knowledge to the family office domain.

Dr. Rosplock earned her undergraduate degree with honors from Middlebury College, an MBA from Marquette University, with an emphasis in private equity finance and entrepreneurship and has her PhD in Organizational Systems from Saybrook University, where she focused on change management as it applies to affluent families. Her dissertation was entitled, “Women’s Interest, Attitudes and Involvement with their Wealth.” Her passion and love of writing inspired her to write The Complete Family Office Handbook, A Guide for Affluent Families and the Advisors Who Serve Them, published by Wiley/Bloomberg January 2014.

A board member of Family Enterprise USA, a non-profit advocacy organization for family enterprise, a Fellow of the Family Firm Institute (FFI) and Co-trustee of the Harbeck Family Foundation, Rosplock is a global advisor to financial institutions, families, family office executives and multi-family office and wealth advisors. Determining who should consider forming or joining a family office, and how to craft and set up a structure, purpose and vision for the office to fully serve a family’s particular needs and investment are her areas of expertise.


Barbara Quasius is a 25+ year senior executive and CFO for a founder's global investment office that has grown global operating companies, seeking to positively impact the people and communities in which they operate. Understanding the importance of tackling the tough conversations, building trust and promoting collaboration amongst family shareholders, Ms. Quasius sought to lead and partner with NextGen family owners to develop a family office platform for governance, philanthropy, succession, wealth transfer, estate planning and education to prepare good stewards for generations to come. With this, Quasius was able to provide steady leadership to the business and the family during the transition following the CEO Patriarch's passing and a NextGen owner's passing.  A servant leader, Quasius is passionate about growing both the financial and human capital so as to have a lasting positive impact on people and our world.          

Ms. Quasius received a full business scholarship and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Lakeland University’s honors program with majors in Accounting and International Business while also studying Spanish at Cuernavaca’s Universidad Internacional.  She wrote her Honors Thesis on the benefits of free enterprise and free trade.  Later, she earned her CPA license and graduated with honors from Marquette University’s MBA program with specialization in finance and entrepreneurship.  Intellectually curious, Ms. Quasius seeks to continually learn and grow. 

Ms. Quasius serves on privately-owned company boards and has spoken at Transition’s Family Business Conference in Marina Del Ray, CA. She is a member of the Multi-Generational Family Office Council and AFOG Family Office Executive Group who share best practices in serving complex ultra-high-net-worth family investment offices.  She is involved in her church and the community and has served on the boards of Laugh Your Way America! and Lakeland University.  She is a mentor to students and hosts international students.  An advocate of education, she and her family are involved with youth programs, including mission trips and alliance building for Esperanza Viva (Living Hope International) youth home and school in Puebla, Mexico. 


Richard L. Cosnotti is the Managing Trustee Emeritus of the Anne Goss Foundation in Jupiter, Florida.

Mr. Cosnotti has served as Principal at Philanthropic Consulting, Inc., president and CEO of the Jupiter Medical Center Foundation, Senior Philanthropic Adviser and Interim Dean of the Office of Resource Development at Harvard Medical School, and the Chief Development Officer at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. Prior to that he served as the Director of Development at The General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church, the Executive Director of The Inner-City Foundation for Charity and Education and a Senior Director at Ketchum, Inc.

Mr. Cosnotti received a B.S. from Brigham Young University and a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary. He also completed leadership programs at the Yale School of Management and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard.


Philip M. DiComo is a Shareholder Attorney at Nason, Yeager, Gerson, Harris & Fumero.

He concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate law, emerging companies, entertainment and licensing, employment, mergers and acquisitions and not-for-profit law. Mr. DiComo previously was associated with Haile, Shaw & Pfaffenberger, and Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge, where he practiced in the areas of corporate, securities and private equity.

Prior to his law practice, Mr. DiComo had more than 15 years of communication, fund development, and management experience in both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. Mr. DiComo has an extensive background in the radio and television industry, and served as a Vice President for West Palm Beach public radio and television stations.

Mr. DiComo received a B.A. from the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communication and graduated summa cum laude from the Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center, where he was a member of the Law Review.

Mr. DiComo, a member of the Florida Bar, serves as a Director for the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County and G-Star School of the Arts for Film, Animation and Performance Arts. Mr. DiComo serves on the Board and as Immediate Past Chairman of the Angel Investment Forum of Florida, and as a Director and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Nonprofits First.
